Amid ancient villages and pristine natural landscapes
Between a round of golf and a dip in the pool, guests can treat themselves to a tour of our resort's surrounding area. We’re located just a few steps from the splendid beaches of Follonica, surrounded by the lush Maremma vegetation and lots of charming little villages.
Suvereto, in the province of Livorno, is a village from another time. Here, everything is reminiscent of a distant and fascinating past, when heroic knights rescued damsels from tall towers. The medieval village still retains many of its charming stone structures, including the majestic Rocca Albobrandesca, where the traditions of the past are kept alive with medieval evenings and festivals all throughout the year.
Pitigliano is situated in Tuscany’s tuff stone region, and is recognised as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. Nicknamed the Little Jerusalem due to its large Jewish community, which has lived there since the sixteenth century, it boasts extremely ancient origins. While the local area has been inhabited since the Neolithic period, the history of Pitigliano truly begins with the arrival of the Etruscans. Together with splendid panoramic views that can be enjoyed from atop its imposing cliff, the Vie Cave and the Etruscan Necropolis give the village a truly magical atmosphere.
Lago dell’Accesa is a splendid little body of water just a few kilometres outside Massa Marittima, and is known for its unique naturalistic and archaeological features. What is now an interesting archaeological park was once home to a mysterious Etruscan settlement, which, over the years, has given rise to many curious legends.
Torre Mozza beach is about 3 km from the Gulf of Follonica, and is part of the Sterpaia Nature Park. It owes its name to its 14th century coastal tower overlooking the sea, which consists of three distinct bodies erected during different eras. The fort stands out as the silent guardian of the coast, which consists of various stretches of public beach, interspersed with private beach facilities.
The Gulf of Baratti is a delightful nature area nestled between the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Ligurian Sea, just a few steps from Piombino. It can be recognised by its peculiar horseshoe shape, and features a wonderful expanse of secular pines overlooking a splendid beach of shallow crystal clear waters, whose sands are burnished with ancient iron residues.
Located between Follonica and Punta Ala, Cala Violina beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire Maremma area. It boasts a dreamlike atmosphere, and owes its name to the tiny grains of quartz in its sand, which seem to play a melody with every step you take. The Cala Violina beach area is sheltered by the Mediterranean scrub of the Scarlino nature reserve, and boasts a coastline of shimmering crystal clear waters.
Located right in the heart of the Etruscan Coast, the baths of Venturina Terme are renowned for their curative properties. They're known as the "Terme Etrusche", and the benefits offered by their spring waters have been known for a thousand years. The regenerating and purifying characteristics of the thermal waters and their vapours make this a perfect place for visitors to take a break and dedicate some time to personal wellness.
Named for its white rocks and minerals, which create a striking contrast with the greenery of the surrounding natural landscape, the Biancane Nature Park is an extraordinary area in terms of geothermal activity. Thanks to the guided tours, visitors are able to observe unique natural geothermal events first hand. Fumaroles, mud lagoons and sulphureous exhalations are just some of the most fascinating phenomena to be seen. Combined with the constant jets of steam, the magnificent colours of both the terrain and the vegetation are enough to make you feel like you're on another planet.
